Schoolproject: All Round Office (2006/2007)

Finished scale model of a desk
This particular project was a groups assignment. Within a group of 3 we had to decide a base shape. With that shape we had to come up with 3 different pieces of furniture useful for a business office.

After some doodles and suggestions we choose this shape:
Base shape
All three of us went on our own way from that.
My task was to create a desk wit the use of that base shape.
I ended up with a drawing that used the shape as some sort of chain; like a bicycle chain, but with 3 pivot points. These points however are not connected. Aluminium bars connect the pieces together.
Because it had to be used for an office I needed drawers or something.
For that I created turnable drawers which turn around the tables legs. The drawers are shaped like the shape above. Due to space needed to put your legs underneath the desk, the drawers are "sawn off".

Below you can see my 3D drawings (made with Rhinoceros 3D)

For this task we didn't have to make the actual piece of furniture. It would be too time consuming, space consuming and costing too much money. Therefor we only had to make a scale model like the one shown in the top of this post and I added a closeup for some more detail.
